Vittoria is changing that, and is now offering the Open Pavè in the form of a clincher. Not only that, but they are available in the traditional green tread, or an all new all black tread. The open tubular version of the Pavè is made of the same “hand made” casing and comes in 700×24. As much as I like the ride quality of the Vittoria EVO CG tires, they wear too quickly for training. I'm 190lbs and the Open Pave CG Clincher works perfectly for me. They are very puncture resistant, nice file tread and the ride quality is fantastic for a Pave tire. Perfect for the slightly damp conditions of San Francisco.

They are pretty fast, but they also wear fast and do suffer from quite a bit of deflationary action. Not a great tyre in my experiences. We had a rocky start, but I've come to like and trust the Open PavГ©s. Don't come expecting bombproof - no tyre is that. The Vittoria Open Pave is truly an extreme weather race tyre; and that supple cotton casing isn't covered with a deep, hard rubber tread - so they clearly won't last as long as a commuting/touring tyres that you might fit to a winter bike. The Open Pave CG has a very durable casing, a fairly soft tread that sticks really well in the wet and on slippery surfaces including cobbles, It is quite supple in its ride but a fairly decent diameter (fatter than the dimension stated).
